GEMHost Sample Project

When the TransSECS Builder first starts, GEMTool Sample Project is loaded. It is a good idea to build this tool project before you load the sample GEMHost project because you may want to use the tool simulator which is generated by building this code.

To load the GEMHost project, use the File Menu's Load Project operation. You will see a file browser with green folders. Select the GEMHost project to load it into the TransSECS Editor. With a HOST project loaded, the TransSECS Editor becomes a host simulator.

As you look at the GEMHost project you will see some VIDs are set up which correspond to the VIDs in the GEMTool project. Likewise there are some CEIDs which correspond to the CEIDs defined in the tool. These are set up so that event reports can automatically be defined when the host makes an initial connection to the tool.

With the tool simulator running, press the hammer/star button for this GEMHost project to build the code. No connection to the tool will be made until you toggle the TransSECS Editor from “SIM” (simulation) to “LIVE” by pressing the SIM button on the top menu bar until it reads “LIVE”.

Initialization messages will be sent to the tool to establish communiation, go online, and set up the defined event reports.

To send a Host Command to the tool, select one of the Host Commands and press Send Message in the message panel. The tool simulator should receive this message. The tool simulator will send the selected reply message for the host command. If a reply message is not selected you will need to set this up in the simulator.

Video guides for using TransSECS are available on the SECS/GEM playlist
