Creating an Application
This page explains the basic process for creating an application in MIStudio.
Overview
An application is a workspace inside a MIStudio project. Applications are used to organize screens, graphics, data connections, logic, and user interface behavior.
A project may contain one application or multiple applications, depending on how the system is organized.
When to Create an Application
Create an application when you need a new screen, workspace, dashboard, or organized area inside a project.
For example, separate applications may be used for:
- Main dashboard views
- Equipment status screens
- Chart or trend displays
- Operator controls
- Data source examples
- Customer-specific screens
Basic Steps
* Open the MIStudio project. * Choose the option to create a new application. * Enter an application name. * Open the new application workspace. * Add graphics or controls to the application. * Configure properties and connections as needed. * Save the project.
Choosing an Application Name
Use a name that describes what the application contains.
Good application names are short, clear, and easy to recognize.
Examples:
* MainDashboard * EquipmentStatus * ProductionOverview * AlarmDisplay * OperatorControls * ChartView
Avoid names that are vague or difficult to understand later. It is also best to avoid spaces or special characters in application names unless your MIStudio version specifically supports them.
After the Application Is Created
After creating an application, the next step is usually to add graphics.
Graphics are the visual components used to build the application screen. These may include labels, boxes, meters, indicators, buttons, charts, or other display elements.
