===== Creating an Application ===== This page explains the basic process for creating an application in MIStudio. ==== Overview ==== An application is a workspace inside an MIStudio project. Applications are used to organize screens, graphics, controls, and related application behavior. A project may contain one application or multiple applications, depending on how the system is organized. When a new application is created, MIStudio opens the application workspace, including the Design Editor and Logic Editor. ==== When to Create an Application ==== Create an application when you need a new screen, workspace, dashboard, or organized area inside a project. For example, separate applications may be used for: * Main dashboard views * Equipment status screens * Chart or trend displays * Operator controls * Data source examples * Customer-specific screens ==== Basic Steps ==== * In the project tree, find the **Applications** section. * Right-click **Applications**. * Select **Add Application**. * After the application is created, the Design Editor and Logic Editor appear. * In the project tree, confirm that the new application appears under **Applications**. * Select the new application. * Enter an application name in the settings. * Save the project. ==== Choosing an Application Name ==== Use a name that describes what the application contains. Good application names are short, clear, and easy to recognize. Examples: * MainDashboard * EquipmentStatus * ProductionOverview * AlarmDisplay * OperatorControls * ChartView Avoid names that are vague or difficult to understand later. It is also best to avoid spaces or special characters in application names unless your MIStudio version specifically supports them. ==== After the Application Is Created ==== After creating an application, the next step is usually to add graphics. Graphics are the visual components used to build the application screen. These may include labels, boxes, meters, indicators, buttons, charts, or other display elements. See MIStudio Design Editor for an overview of the available graphics groups. ==== Getting Started Flow ==== Previous: Creating a Project Next: Adding Graphics to an Application ==== Related Pages ==== * MIStudio Getting Started * MIStudio Project Structure * Creating a Project * Adding Graphics to an Application * MIStudio Design Editor
