Overview
The URLButton graphic is an Active Control based on the Button graphic.

A URLButton is used to switch applications in an MIStudio project or launch a web browser window with an external URL.

The default label is **Switch To ...** and can be changed to describe the application or web page the button opens. An image can also be added to change the button appearance.

URLButton shares many common properties with other button-style controls. See Button-Style Control Common Properties for shared label, image, bezel, quality indicator, enabled, rotation, and visibility properties.

Common Uses
 * Switching to another application in the project
 * Opening an external URL in a web browser
 * Creating a navigation button
 * Creating a button bar for application screens
 * Linking to documentation, support pages, dashboards, or other web resources

Input Behavior
A URL can be sent to the URLButton input.

When a URL is sent to the input, the web page is loaded into the web browser.

Output Behavior
URLButton does not provide an output.

Click Action
The most important URLButton property to configure is **Click Action**.

The Click Action panel controls what happens when the URLButton is clicked at runtime.

The available options include:

 * **Switch To** Used to switch to another application in the project.
 * **External URL** Used to open an external web page or web resource.
 * **None** No click action is configured.

The URLButton can also receive a URL through its input. When a URL is sent to the input, the web page can be loaded into the web browser.

Difference From Button
URLButton has many of the same properties as Button, but it is designed for navigation and URL behavior.

Key differences include:

 * URLButton can switch applications or launch a web browser window.
 * URLButton has a single label.
 * URLButton can use a single image.
 * URLButton does not use Toggle Mode.
 * URLButton does not provide an output.

Notes
A group or bar of URLButtons can be created as an MIStudio Component and reused on application screens.

For shared active control behavior, see Active Control Common Properties.

For shared Button, PushButton, and URLButton settings, see Button-Style Control Common Properties.

For button-style controls that send values or trigger general application logic, see Button and PushButton.
